After a great day in Barbados, where we hired a taxi for the day, we are now en route for Salvador about 2,000 miles away. Three formal nights in a row
Barbados was good fun, as always, although it was a bit wet. We trotted up to St Nicholas' Abbey to get the rum bottle filled and look round their latest improvements. Showed R & F round the museum in Speightstown and then down to Holetown for lunch at Zaccios on the beach. The sun came out, the rum punch was excellent and had it not been for the fact the ship was due to leave we could have stayed all day!
The sea days are always nice, so P is off to her duplicate bridge and I hope to get a swim before the next talk by Ivan Lawrence. Still meeting interesting people everywhere on the ship and have discovered an excellent spot for music after dinner in the Chart Room bar. Just don't mention King's Court on Deck 7 - dear, dear!

The new turbine on its way up! |
Looks like things at home are not much changed, so we are keeping in touch with the mobile when we can get a local signal - Cunard's network is a bit pricey!
Found an Engineering Officer to chat about the turbine issue - turns out it was really only a standby! All the port timings are back to original schedules, so maybe the Captain was hedging his bets in case he didn't get the turbine back - it was taken out in Southampton some weeks ago
Glad you are having a good time! We hit Barbados in March! Love to all
